Family Planning Advocates and Planned Parenthood Activists greet President Obama in a sea of pink
Dozens of volunteers and supporters from Family Planning Advocates of New York State, Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood and Planned Parenthood Mohawk Hudson greeted President Obama today as his motorcade arrived at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, N.Y.
Nearly 10 local and national news outlets interviewed FPA and PP individual supporters and spokespersons about their presence in the crowd. We let reporters know we were there to demonstrate to the President that women’s health care must be priority in any health care reform package passed. Comprehensive reproductive health care and essential community health care providers, such as Planned Parenthood, have to be part of the plan.
Women and men, young and the not so young, in a sea of pink T-shirts holding signs that read “Women’s Health Matters” and “Health Care Reform for All Communities” stood on the corner of Rt. 4 and Williams Rd. shouting and waving to the President as his stretch limousine rounded the corner on its way to his speaking engagement on campus. Activists were thrilled to have a clear view of the President in his car and to see him smiling and waving at us.

Everyone is ready to see the President drive by.
